Our Philosophy
LEAP exists to help unemployed people who have difficulty accessing the labour market to develop the skills, attitude and behaviour to achieve long-term, sustainable employment. We provide a comprehensive range of services, such as: outreach; needs assessment; employability skills training; one-to-one support; job placement; therapeutic counselling and other support services aimed at raising our clients’ self-esteem and motivation, giving them the tools to escape from poverty and fulfil their potential.
We are pioneers, in the UK, of two year post-placement follow up. After we have supported someone into employment, we do not consider our work over, but stay with our clients to help them through the difficult early months of transition and then support their aspirations for career development.
We recognise that we have a responsibility to provide first rate services to our clients, but avoid making them dependent on us. Our message to them is loud, clear and consistent: “We are here to help you, but we will not do it for you.”
We believe in the people we serve. We care too much about them to watch them conform to negative stereotypes, without challenging them to consider themselves in an altogether more positive light. |
