Over 16 years LEAP have helped thousands of unemployed people from disadvantaged communities into work. In addition, we also provide many other services to the community, including a youth club; drama and dance classes for young people; mentoring; IT and numeracy classes.
Our funding for our acclaimed training and placement services ran out on March 31st, so we are now running them (at a reduced level) only as a result of our reserves. With unemployment the highest it has been in a generation and getting worse, the need for organisations such as LEAP is greater than ever. We are pleased to have secured some funding from the LDA and are particularly grateful for a generous donation of £50,000 from HSBC, but that amounts to only one quarter of what is needed to continue to provide and, develop, the unique and innovative training programme that has transformed the lives of so many people.
We are grateful to Mayor Boris Johnson’s LDA for their contribution so far, but we are still keeping open a petition which calls upon the public sector to step in and provide the funds to ensure that LEAP continues to help people get some dignity and get into work. If you would like to help in anyway, please see the Get Involved section on this website or contact us on 020 8962 1900 or iwanttohelp@leap.org.uk.
